Father’s Day Reflections: Saying “I Will” to Godly Fatherhood
Sharing on Father’s Day this year was a deep honor for me—one that came with both joy and weight. As I prepared, I laughed at a meme comparing Mother’s Day and Father’s Day sermons. It said:
- Mother’s Day: “You’re amazing!”
- Father’s Day: “Do better.”
Funny, but honestly? A little too true. Being a Godly father isn’t about perfection—it’s about daily surrender to Christ. And as I stood to speak, I was reminded that we’re raising a generation that’s watching us. Learning from us. Needing us to lead.
This message wasn’t just for dads who got it all right. It was for single moms carrying both roles. For men who’ve stepped up when others didn’t. For dads carrying regret. For anyone wondering if it’s too late to be a spiritual leader. Spoiler: it’s not.
Godly fathers aren’t perfect—they’re present. They’re protectors, providers, and pointers to Jesus. They’re men who say, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” And they don’t just say it—they live it.
So I challenged the men of our church—and now I challenge you:
- Will you lead your family with purpose?
- Will you make your home a place where Jesus is known?
- Will you say, “I will”?
Whether you’re starting fresh or continuing strong, today is a new day to pick up the mantle and be the father God has called you to be.
